UK CARNIVALS
Acton Carnival
Next Carnival: Saturday 10th July 2010
Acton Carnival takes place every year in July, and is the highlight of Acton's calendar. There are around 30 carnival groups that take to the streets of Acton, in a spectacle of colour, costume, music and dance. The Parade leaves Woodlands Park, Crown Street at 12 noon and travels down the High Street to Acton Park, bringing the streets to life with colourful costumes, music and dancing.
The eigth Acton Carnival is taking place in July 2010, and is a unique opportunity for Acton's diverse communities to come together and celebrate. Months of preparation, planning meetings, school and community workshops, costume making and dance rehearsals, in schools, youth and community centres come together to make the spectacle of Carnival.
Those taking part in the Carnival Parade represent the rich cultural mix of Acton, and includes Caribbean, Chinese, African, European and Latin American groups.
Activities in Acton Park continue until 7 pm, where you will be entertained at the Family Festival, taste food from around the world, enjoy the craft stalls, arts activities, cultural quarter, fun fair, or the youth arena. Come along on the day, or if you want to get involved in the event contact Acton Carnival for more information.
