BET - Celebration of Gospel
I attended
BET's Celebration of Gospel on 5th February, 2009 at the Odeon, Leicester Square. The prestigious West End venue was appropriate considering
Britain's finest Gospel artists and key figures in the Black Christian community were in the house.
Ava Hall Vice President of Programming & Production at BET International from the USA was in attendance and she deliver a speech which was preceded by Glen Yearwood of The Glen Yearwood Group; BET International's UK Marketing Communications consultancy. The
Rev. Roy Francis also took to the stage to share his experiences working with BET International.
We were treated to an exclusive premiere screening of
Celebration of Gospel in which Muyiwa and Riversongz represented the UK by performing their hit song 'Heya' in LA, which was broadcast to over 90 million homes globally. So, the order of the day was for BET to present the
Celebration of Gospel to the UK Gospel industry and express their intention to continue representing
UK gospel on the channel as it's an important part of BET's programming schedule and they understand the need to broadcast content relevant to each territory that they expand into. After watching the 2-hour Gospel extravaganza we were treated to an acoustic performance by Muyiwa and Riversongz and everyone got on the feet and "raised the praise".
I was able to snap images of
Jahaziel, Roger Samuels, Priscilla, and other acts while guests were fed and watered by a mouth watering buffet provided by
'Cummin up' a Christian based caterer who hosted an open house on Christmas morning feeding people from all over London. As well as celebrity Gospel artists, there was a lot of networking by
Premier, Dave P of Choice FM, Marcia Dixon and the UK's representatives of
Gospel media.
