About The Authors
Natasha John-Baptiste's aka the Songstress works in education and is also a singer songwriter, she has worked with many recording artiste which includes Desmond Dekker, Light of the World, Sister Sledge and much more. She recognised that there were very few books for children about the achievements from people of African descent. Natasha decided to use her creative skills to teach children about the amazing contributions that people of African descent have made in science and inventions through the One Thing About History Is... series.
Solabomi Conteh has taught for over forty years in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. She spent over 18 of those forty years working as an Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMAG) coordinator in a primary school in London. This entailed working with all ethnic minority children from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean and also children from the UK who needed support. While working with these children to improve their English, so to help them access the curriculum, raise their self-esteem and build in cultural awareness, she realised that in the subject of healthy eating the children knew very little about fruits and vegetables and less about tropical fruits and vegetables. With this in mind Solabomi Conteh decided to write a fun but informative book on tropical fruits and vegetables, in rhyming verse to inspire all who read it.
