National BME Cancer Patient Advisory Panel - Get Involved Today!

The National Cancer Action Team (NCAT) is looking for patients from black or minority ethnic communities, who have experienced cancer, to join the National BME Cancer Patient Advisory Panel.

In 2007, the Cancer Reform Strategy reported that "Patient experience surveys have shown that BME groups in general report a worse experience of treatment and care". In response to this, the NCAT created the National BME Cancer Patient Advisory Panel.

The aims of the panel are:

• To give cancer patients and carers from a BME background a voice and an opportunity to share their experiences
• To provide the NHS with information to help support and improve cancer services

We will be running 3 - 4 surveys a year to find out about various aspects of patients' cancer journey (i.e. information, access or treatment). Panel members can either answer questions online (in English) or can choose to be interviewed over the phone, by someone who speaks their first language.

We are also keen to hear from those who have cared for a family member or friend with cancer.
