Mary Prince
An author and abolitionist, Mary Prince was a daughter of slaves who became an abolitionist and the first black woman to publish an account of her life in Britain. The History of Mary Prince, a West Indian Slave, Related by Herself, was first published in 1831.
She was born at Brackish Pond, Bermuda, in around 1788.
