Carnival the Musical 2011

Carnival the Musical

The heart and soul of Notting Hill Carnival is captured in a new youth musical for all ages. A reluctant Carnival Queen dreams of escaping her elaborate costume and dancing through the crowds. When her world collides with a street smart hoodie, together they must dodge gangsters and seek help from Rampage DJ', Calypso Monarchs and Nicki Minaj, before discovering the true meaning of Carnival - freedom.

Why make a musical about Carnival?

DreamArts members decided Notting Hill Carnival would provide a fantastic backdrop for a musical. They wanted to not only show Europe's biggest street party, but explore it's a rich cultural, social and creative heritage. This musical will celebrate the music, the costume, the dance, the struggle and the passion of Carnival, and make the audience think, feel, and party.

10th Anniversary of DreamArts New Musicals

Every year for the past decade DreamArts has given young people the chance to create, produce and perform their own musicals. These critically acclaimed productions have performed at West End venues, and have been a stepping stone for the careers of hundreds of young people. Carnival the Musical continues to involve young talent at every level in the writing, onstage, behind the scenes, on the production team, and in the band.
