Influential Black Londoners Trail and Exhibition

Black Londoners Exhibition Sutton House

Explore the diverse lives of Influential Black Londoners across 500 years through our trail and exhibition.

Discover letters from admiring fans, take part in family-friendly activities and see if you can collect a full set of Influential Black Londoners stickers.

Watch the exhibition grow week by week as local primary school groups create art work inspired by each of the Londoners.

We also have a Free Family Day coming up this Sunday, the 29th September from 12-4pm, where families can visit the Trail and Exhibition for free and explore the life of the first Influential Black Londoner on our trail, John Blanke. We will be running arts and crafts activities and families will be encouraged to dress up and meet the man himself!

Finally, for the grown-ups, from 6pm – 8.30pm on Monday 21st October we will be holding a talk by Dr. Miranda Kaufmann and Michael Ohajuru, ‘Image and Reality of Black Africans in Renaissance England’. Tickets will be £3 on the door, and guests will have time to explore the House’s historic rooms and the exhibition, as well as enjoy a drink at our Bryck Place Bar.
