Danielle Dixon
Danielle is a 22 year old, 5ft 7inch, brown hair and brown eyed
Jamaican young woman studying Medicine in London. She migrated to England in
1999 from Jamaica with her parents and two younger sisters. Climbing the education
ladder in the United Kingdom she attended the Ursuline High School in Wimbledon
after leaving (Campion College in Jamaica) and became the Head Girl of the School in
Sixth Form.
At present Danielle is now studying Medicine at Imperial College London and has just
begun the 4th year of her course with three years remaining. Her ambition is to
specialise in Respiratory Sciences. Danielle would like to give back to Jamaica and the
Jamaican community the skills she has developed from Medical school in being a
successful Doctor.
Danielle sees her life here and now in the UK, and accepts many aspects of the
culture here, however, her Jamaican background and Jamaican upbringing makes her
a natural ambassador, wherever she goes in her own words....
"I am known as 'the Jamaican Girl'.By being a member of Facilitators For a Better Jamaica (FFBJ), Jamaica's Premier Think
Tank Lobby and Resource Group which specialises in being an effective voice that
speaks up on issues affecting Jamaicans in the UK and Internationally, this has
provided Danielle with a vehicle to show her commitment to promote the positive
aspects of Jamaica within the Diaspora.
In her spare time Danielle enjoys playing the piano, reading novels,
listening to music, swimming and socialising. These are all very relaxing hobbies
which help her to unwind after a busy day of travelling to and from university as well
as during exam time.
Congratulations to Danielle Dixon, Miss Jamaica 2007
