The St Lucia Jazz Festival is now one of St. Lucia's most popular events, and known as one of the top five Jazz Festivals in the world.
Each year in May, the island is filled with jazz music and the crowds of locals and tourist soak up the atmosphere.
Pigeon Island is home to the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, and with its historic landmarks is possibly one of the most beautiful spots in St. Lucia. Pigeon Island is
connected to the mainland by a causeway, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, it is the perfect venue for the final days of the Festival.
Pigeon Island Side Lawn - In 1999 the Pigeon Island Side Lawn was introduced. Located on Pigeon Island, directly in front of the Captain's Cellar, the venue hosts two evening performances. Open air performances create the perfect backdrop to enjoy the Jazz.
Gaiety on Rodney Bay - is located between Pigeon Island and Gros Islet with the ability to seat almost 2500 persons. The Gaiety boasts plush seating in a luxurious atmosphere offering jazz patrons the option of cabaret seating or tiered balcony seating. The advanced acoustics of this venue will guarantee superb performances, which bring out the best of the jazz artists performing at this venue.
The Great House –
The Derek Walcott Theatre is a small intimate theatre is named after one of St. Lucia's nobel Laureates, Mr Derek Walcott. Nestled among the palm trees, this theatre is picture perfect, offering the ideal setting for intimate jazz performances.
With live events everywhere including the hugely popular 'Jazz On the Square' and artists including Ashford and Simpson, Earth, Wind and Fire, Herbie Mann, Incognito, Kindred, Mike Phillips, Nnenna Freelon, Teague & Tappin, Nicholas Brancker & Friends, and St. Lucia's All Star Steel Orchestra, the St Lucia Jazz Festival is definately not to be missed.
