Article by Diane Shawe 28th February 2008
There has been so much mis-information such as:
• That these new wigs can replace your own hair and make your hair look as though it is growing out of your scalp all over!
• That these wigs can be worn for very long periods of time with just a bit of glue around the edges
• That you can thread your own hair through these new lace wigs
• That you can weave a lace of hair all over your own head to get a seamless look
• That your own hair is undetectable and the whole system is flat to the touch
• European girls cannot wear lace front wigs

Swiss Lace Front Wig
Swiss Lace is more fragile than French lace but strong enough if handled carefully. It is the most undetectable but also very delicate. Swiss lace needs to be handled with care and is not recommended for first time users to lace front wigs.
French Lace + Ear To Ear Stretch
French Lace + Ear to Ear Stretch is a French lace with an elastic material constructed within the unit for maximum durability and elasticity. This will allow a client to pull back the hair in a high ponytail while offering a adjustable "perfect" fit. *Recommended*
French Lace + Thin Skin Nape
French Lace + Thins Skin Nape is a very thin, clear coat of polyurethane over a clear silk base that allows for easy application and removal. Applying Lace Front Wigs
How is lace front wig cap applied? There are two ways to apply your lace front wig.
a) Do it yourself
b) Have it professionally applied by a trained technician.
Doing it yourself
The lace front cap is applied with either special adhesive that is safe for human skin, or tape. The adhesive disappears into the lace front and creates the illusion of hair growing directly out of the scalp. Dependant on the type of glue used to apply the front lace some suggest that the Ultra adhesive might last for up to three weeks.
Professionally applied
A technician if properly trained will prepare your own hair and duel attach the system. This would mean that the system could be worn for up to 3 months and a touch up glue is used to keep the front lace securely bonded in place. A duel attached system would mean that not too much pressure or movement is placed on the wig which would encourage premature loosen off the glue around the lace hairline.
