ITS JUST DAYS BEFORE THE ARTIST KNOWN AS "THE FEMALE PRINCE" ROLLS INTO TOWN.
Malina back in the UK
LONDON, 2007
The artist known as "The Female Prince", US singer, songwriter and guitarist Malina Moye, will arrive next week ahead of her 12th February gig at the Cobden Club in West London.
Minneapolis-raised Malina, who has worked and played with stars such as R Kelly, Mary J Blige and her hometown hero Prince, has been gathering a huge following in the UK. Her website and mySpace pages have been getting thousands of hits from UK fans eager to keep in touch with one of music's rising stars.
The Cobden Club event, part of the 'Fiver-a-head' 4stickslive promotion, comes after Malina featured on the Billboard charts for 32 weeks with her WCE Records single,Alone. This has helped create a huge demand for tickets for the upcoming performance, and it should be a sell out.
The Fender supported artist will be showcasing tracks from her forthcoming album, due out in the Spring.
Commented Malina, "Its great to be coming back to England. When I came in November I received a really good reception from my British fans, the media and radio.
"Hopefully I'll be making a whole load more friends on this trip."
On her album she added, "I want to show people what I'm capable of. My music can't really be defined as this or that. Its very personal to me and encompasses elements of soul, RnB, also a little bit of rock through my guitar."
While she is in the UK, Malina will be meeting with the media and also a well known charitable trust, famed for its massive links with the entertainment industry.
Malina arrived in Los Angeles with little more than $20 and head full of dreams, surviving on tacos and sleeping in her car for the first five months she was there. Since then she has appeared in films, on the catwalk, and on stage with some of the biggest names in the business.
About her first months in LA, the inspirational African American said, "I can't wait to meet with the charitable trust. It means so much to me because it allows me to go back to my roots and help people who are in a similar predicament to what I was a few short years ago."
"All I had going for me, truly, was real determination and a positive attitude. Good things happen if you can start with that"
