Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK Pageant and Cultural Showcase 2011 sponsored by Western Union and Trinidad & Tobago Tourism Development Company and supported by the High Commission for the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Tobago House of Assembly and many others took place at the Carnival Village Powis Square London on the Saturday 10th September, 2011.

The patrons were greeted with a rum punch reception courtesy of Angostura Ltd Trinidad and Tobago known famously for its Angostura Bitters, Welcome bag with mini ampoules of Angostura rum, Neuro energy drinks from Neuro Drinks ltd, Western Union promotional souvenirs and promotional leaflets of Trinidad and Tobago from the Tourism Development Company. The Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK pageant is a signature event of Carivog International. I started in 2003 and in 2004 and onward received the distinguished patronage of the High Commission of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago in London. It has generated a lot of interest, attracting applicants from Scotland and Wales and thousands of nationals from Trinidad & Tobago, other Caribbean islands and the UK, through the website.

The purpose of this event is to select a UK based Trinbagonian beauty to be a cultural ambassador representing Trinidad & Tobago in the United Kingdom, *her official duties* is the promotion of Trinidad and Tobago and consists of Media interviews, attending various events and supporting charitable causes. Annually amongst her many appears she attends the Trinidad & Tobago Windsor Caribbean Evening Race Day introduced by a fellow Trinidadian Mr. Hugo Gunning. She also carries out charitable duties both in the UK and the Caribbean.

The Delegates and the Structure of the Pageant and Cultural Showcase. The selected delegates are between the ages of 18-27 years. They were taken on a journey of self discovery and intellectual development as they participate in holistic workshops which assist to uplift the self-esteem of participants and strengthen their ability to cope with life’s challenges. These workshops were supported by our sponsor Pamela Price of Wessex House Night Club and comprised of Image building lectures, protocol and etiquette, dance movement and exercise, deportment and was conducted by our official sponsors make-up by Karen Salandy of KBell Cosmetics, Hair by Namaste, as well as choreography training courtesy of Carivog International UK and Dr Patrick Williams chorographer for the show in preparation for the show.

Many wonder if pageants such as the Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK would survive the present economical down turn in the presence of limited funding. Angela Cox chairwoman of the group of volunteers' said "the show must go on despite the obvious down turn in the economy. Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK is more than just a pageant and cultural show, it is a beauty beacon shining its light and showcasing in positive radiance the culture, cultural diversity and beauty of the people of the twin islands of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is an expression of the interconnectivity of Trinidad and Tobago with United Kingdom, Caribbean Islands and the World. The group of volunteers that has kept the show alive over the years consists of Trinidad and Tobago nationals, nationals of Barbados, Jamaica, Shi Lanka, UK, who work in fellowship to ensure the quality is maintained. "

As with previous years, this year's event hosted dignitaries and VIPs in the audience, we were honored by the presence of His Excellence Mr. Garvin Nicholas, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Former Mayor of Brent Bertha Joseph, Wendell Clements from Poison UK, Jaunita Collins executive for Sales and Marketing Caribbean Air Lines, Miss Sri Lanka UK 2011 Shallotte Ritchie, George Ruddock Editor from the GV Media Group 'The Voice' newspaper to name a few.

Amongst her many prizes the winner receives a prize trip to Trinidad and Tobago courtesy of the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company and accommodation sponsored by the Scenic Cascadia Hotel and Conference Centre Port of Spain. She will also spend a week in Tobago where she will stay at a beautiful villa kindly sponsored by a fellow Tobagonian. A tour of Tobago Cocoa Estate W.I. Ltd which brings together the unique 'agri' or 'agro' and 'culinary' aspects of Tobago into a holistic experience, the Tobago Cocoa Estate W.I. Ltd is a heritage park where visitors can learn about the history of cocoa in Tobago. Gold gilded picture frame from Campbell's of London and All delegates received a collection of books kindly donated by Hansib Publications, goody bag with rum from Angostura, hamper from Caribbean Delights food Ltd and Namaste Hair products, Jewelry for the night n was sponsored by Anna's Silver Jewelry of London also fellow Trinibagoian. The seven delegates of part or full Trinidad & Tobago parentage and resident in the United Kingdom, paraded in carnival costumes from Poison UK, traditional wear, swimsuits from the Inn Collection of Trinidad and Tobago, and evening gowns from designers based in the United Kingdom. The stage décor which depicted the essence of carnival was done by Mahogany Mas Band. The delegates represented both selected areas of Trinidad & Tobago and their United Kingdom area of residence. The finalists were judged on the basis of how they present themselves as well as the two minute presentation on the area of Trinidad and Tobago they represented.

Main events: * Pre Judging of intelligence was held on 20th August, 2011 with a VIP panel of judges.

* The Grand Finals Evening took place on Saturday 10th September, 2011 (General Public)

The theme of the show was 'Hotter than Hot' celebrating the Spanish community of Trinidad and Tobago depicting the vibrant colors of out tropical island as seen in flowers, birds, fashion and carnival. Entertainment by the fellow Trinidadian UK Pan soloist Debra Romain, Deliah UK 2010 Belly Dance Champion, up and coming UK soca artiste Konato Alleyne, the London Bollywood Dance Company, 'Queens of UK Soca' Muzik Lil Muzik winner of the Soca Monarch 2011, Classical Dance by Dr Patrick William our show cheographer,who is one of the worlds small but influential group Ethnodanceocologist's. he was trained by two of the world's top classical dancers, Alvin Ailey founder of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and Rudolph Nureyev He has worked with English National Ballet and was the Head of Dance at a University in North east England. The MC for the night was Janine La Rosa former beauty queen, Dj - Rebel D Music.
