Neil Reidman
Neil Reidman - Actor

Neil Reidman

Born in Birmingham to Jamaican parents, and the youngest of six children, Neil started acting at the age of 13 when he began attending drama classes at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. Landing a spot at the Central Junior Television Workshop, based at the Midlands Arts Centre, was the starting point of his acting career in theatre and television.

Neil Reidman is perhaps best known for his role as Lieutenant Atillo in the popular BBC drama Dr. Who. He played roles in various ITV children programmes, as well as performing in theatre productions at The Mac and The Door (former Birmingham Rep's studio theatre). Neil then went on to train in method acting at the prestigious Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in London where he specialised in Classical and Modern Theatre.

His professional career began in the world of stage, performing in the Merchant of Venice and Pinocchio. He also starred in The Dispute, directed by Neil Bartlett for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon which was commissioned by the British Council. Later, the play went on tour from London to Lisbon and won the TMA Award for Best Production in 1999.

In his television work Neil has starred as PC Williams in BBC’s Casualty as well as in Nature Boy and in The Locksmith. Next to his television career, Neil has played the lead role in a number of feature films. He starred in Fast Break for Fierce Production, which won the First Light Film Awards and as Darren in The Birthday Treat, which brought him the Best Male Actor Award at the 9th BFM International Film Festival. He also took the lead part of Nelson in Win, Lose or Draw, which won the Best Film Award at the 10th BFM and the part of Ricky in Sh*t Happens, a short film he wrote and directed for FourthWall Productions. That film was nominated for Best Film at the Portobello Film Festival.

Neil has recently finised shooting the feature Losing Innocence directed by Matt Ford and won 'Best Short Film' award at the Music Video and Screen Awards Birmingham for Wounded, a film he wrote, directed and in which he stars.

Neil will be back at the Theatre Royal Stratford East playing 'Bernie' in the hit Musical The Big Life Friday 27 & Saturday 28 April 2012.
