Omar Simon
'You're All I Need' is the new single from UK Caribbean artist Omar Simon, and is taken from his forthcoming debut album 'Our World' due out later this year. The track is a sultry groove that underpins a soft and mellifluous vocal style reminiscent of many a classic soul/gospel artist. Think Smokey Robinson, Percy Sledge, Isley Brothers and you're getting the idea.
Originally born in Paddington West London, Omar and his sister were sent to Montserrat in the Caribbean to be raised by their grandmother. It took time for the young Omar to adjust to the island's way of life but soon immersed himself into the colourful Calypso, Gospel and reggae cultures that he was witnessing around him. These influences can be clearly heard on a first listen of his album that is packed with a selection of beautifully arranged songs.
When Omar was in his teens he returned to the UK and carried on developing his writing and singing skills and it was not long before he was becoming a force to be reckoned with appearing at all the key Soul clubs/venues throughout the UK and Ireland where he is now predominantly based. The album was mixed by Grammy Award winner John Hudson known for his work with Tina Turner and other legends while the mastering was done by the renowned Chris Gheringer at Sterling Sound NYC, who has previously worked with Rhianna, Nas and Joss Stone to name a few.
Omar has always had a natural flair for writing. "The biggest inspiration for me is life itself and the various journeys that one goes through. What we observe from things around us whether it's nature’s beauty or peoples behaviour can all enrich one's individual life experience"
