Established as a Radical Mas Band in 1983,
People’s World (formerly People’s War) Carnival Band has brought a Carnival Costume Band onto the streets of
Notting Hill at Carnival time for the past 21 years. We have a policy of ensuring that the themes we portray have something to say about the world around us and there is always an historically educational element.
Our ethics are steeped in a commitment to
‘Tell It Like It Is’ and hence our themes also try to make social commentary about relevant issues. Although serious subject matter is covered, themes are portrayed with humour and satire.

Peoples World Carnival Band has a wide membership with people from all ethnic backgrounds, cultures, ages and abilities. They are mostly from North London from the boroughs of Haringey, Hackney, Islington and Enfield.
We also try to ensure that costumes are well made and affordable as many of our band members are on low incomes. There are currently approximately 150 members and another 200 friends of the Band who support events, but do not take part in Carnival.
Mas Camp Opening Times:
All year - Monday and Friday evenings 7-9pm
June to September - Monday to Friday 7-10pm, Saturday 2pm-Late.
