Renee Lagrange Afro Caribbean Hair and Scalp Clinic

RENEE LAGRANGE, a para medical Trichologist, specialises exclusively in the treatment of problems associated with African Caribbean Scalp and Hair Diseases and Disorders and has been the leading expert in this field since qualifying in 1982.

She is a Member of The Institute of Trichologists, a Licentiate and Founder of The Trichological Society and a Member of The Royal Institute of Public Health.

For the past 17 years she has been treating patients from her Harley Street Clinic in London.

During Consultation, a Diagnosis is established, the present condition is discussed and the relevant treatment is then prescribed.

Scalp problems commonly seen at the Clinic are inflammatory conditions like Itchy/Scaly scalp, Contact Dermatitis, Secondary Infected Allergic Reactions, Folliculitis, Eczema, Acne Keloidalis, bacterial infections of the follicles.

Once the chemical state of the scalp alters, scales buid up and the hair become dry and lustreless. Subsequent applications of pommades or oils on an itchy scalp will result in folliculitis manifested by pustules surrounding the hair follicles.

The inflammatory cells accumulate in response to bacteria that are able to proliferate within the partially occluded follicles resulting in Hair lossaffecting the general density of the hair.

Secondary Infected Dermatitis causes the hair follicles to become damaged resulting in various degrees of Hair loss and possibly the formation of disseminated keloidal scarring due to continual scratching.

Healthy Hair does not grow from scaly, itchy scalp. Only a problem free scalp will ensure that the normal cycle of hairgrowth is maintained.

Hair problems commonly seen at the Clinic include Hairloss, Hair Breakage, Chemical and Thermal damage, Frontal and Occipital Alopecia, and other various types of alopecias, some of them related to scalp disorders that have been left untreated.

Black hair encounters problems because of its natural configuration and the lack of humidity in the British climate. Its susceptibilty to dehydration and breakage is high. But appropriate management of the hair and regular treatments with products developed for its specific needs will restore some level of natural balance of protein and moisture, helping to achieve maximum hair density and restore scalp optimum condition so that the normal rate of hairgrowth can take place to produce healthy hair.

The Ten Step Hair Care System (a Home Treatment) is a Hair Care Programme which represents a new concept in the management of Black hair. It addresses "the Total Care of Hair and Scalp". By cancelling the dehydrating effects of shampoos, it sustains hair quality, achieves maximum hair density, greater length of hair and restores scalp optimum condition thus forming a good base for chemical processing.

The Scalp Treatment (a Home Treatment) is an anti-inflammatory, deep cleansing treatment formulated to control the yeast population of the scalp which is involved in the process that causes scaliness and itchiness which may lead to folliculitis, hairloss and the formation of keloids
