Have you always had a passion for hairstyling?
Marcia says: I absolutely love doing hair and have had this passion since a young girl. I have been in the industry now since 1985 and plan to continue hairdressing for so time to come.
I began training at a top West End salon
Splinters for years, and then continued at the college of North West London where I was voted student of the year 2002.
What's happening in the world of Rougz Hair?
Marcia says: I am excited at finally having my own salon and have being working tirelessly to make it a success. I have participated in a number of the more popular hair shows.
In May I won the
'Stopwatch Styling 2007' competition and came runner up in the
Avant Garde category of the
'Black Hair and Beauty' show held at Alexandra Palace. My style, which was inspired by my Rougz colours of red & black, was a popular choice with the audience. I was a little shocked at the amount of applause it received.
So just how many awards have you won in your career?
Marcia says: A few I'm happy to say. In 2002 I won awards at 'Stopwatch styling show, Afro Hair and Beauty show and Wahl Awards.
In 2003 I was a finalist in the Wahl awards. I was Avant Garde stylist of the year.
I have won a number of awards on behalf of the salons I worked for (many of which I was not accredited for).
In 2007 I was first place in Stopwatch stylist of the year and runner up for Black Hair and Beauty 'Avant Garde' stylist of the year.

Do you run this business by yourself?
Marcia says: My sister has been strong driving voice behind my business success. She has supported me whilst I prepared for competitions and worked with me through the night if I have an event on to ensure everything is finished on time. I'd be lost without her.
So what's so special about the service you offer?
Marcia says: I really believe it's my desire to make sure my clients feel wonderful when they leave my salon. I've taken time and thought to create an environment that feels relaxing and soothing. I totally pamper my clients so that they feel that their weekly or monthly visit is a real boost for them.
So where does the inspiration for some of your styles come from?
Marcia says: I get inspiration from my clients. They know that I am a perfectionist and my satisfaction comes from their satisfaction.
I'm also inspired by other top stylists, who offer me great encouragement. The strength I've gained from valuable advice over the years and the pressure I put on myself to perfect my skills have allowed me to continue to produce award winning styles, particularly in my Avant Garde collection.
What's your speciality?
Marcia says: Colouring and cutting are my forte. I simply love to work with colour.
Who are your favourite customers? Marcia says:Men and women who love elegance, who like their hair to make a statement you know and are not afraid to have a change now and then. Clients who feel that a good hair day is a good day.
So you're a great hairdresser and love hairdressing with a passion, what's the down side of your profession?
Marcia says:The are so many great stylists out there, it would be good to see more events and opportunities for them.
Also, after completing so many relaxer treatments throughout my years, I have discovered that some of my fingers have lost their distinctive finger print.
Any final message you would like to let visitors to itzcaribbean.com know?
Marcia says: I'd love them to get in touch and arrange to have a treatment at Rougz. I love meeting my itzcaribbean friends.
