Screen Nation Film & TV Awards 2008
The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards is uniquely the only annual international celebration of achievement within urban world cinema and TV in the UK.
Every year the Awards celebrate the cascade of achievements that have helped enrich world and UK cinema & TV with cultural diversity.
After five years the Awards is now confirmed as ‘the’ industry diversity event and is recognised and supported by industry bodies and all major terrestrial and satellite broadcasters.
This important media event promotes the many world-renowned artists who are held in high esteem by TV and movie lovers, proving that urban screen talent are ready to receive the highest acclaim for their achievements.
Combining the glamour of international movie stars alongside British talent, the event has been dubbed by the media as the ‘Black Bafta’s’. The event brings together actors, actresses, directors and filmmakers from many of the UK and the international industries most prestigious and well known movies & TV shows.
The night consists of an exciting and glamorous awards ceremony, top quality live comedy and music entertainment in the heart of London’s West End. A first ever ceremony was held at the Empire Leicester Square in 2003, with a Party at the glamorous Mezzo and then in 2004 at the swanky Park Lane Hotel. In 2005 a glitzy event was held at the Prince Charles Cinema and last two years the event has returned to its stunning best at the London Hilton, Park Lane and Metropole.
2008 AWARDS – BROADCASTER TBC
Set to take place on 8th October at the Hilton London Metropole, the Awards will be hosted once again by TV favourite, Josie D’Arby who this year is joined by a mystery male TV star. The show is anticipated to broadcast in late October.
Invited guest of honour and recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award will be the much loved African-American Hollywood screen star Whoopi Goldberg, the hilarious charismatic star of some of the most successful American movies and television of the past few decades. Also being honoured on the night with the Edric Connor Inspiration Award is Don Warrington, veteran star of Rising Damp. Other award recipients will include the legendary writer/producer Trix Worrell the creator of the C4 hit comedy series, Desmonds.
Industry backed Achievement Awards, recognise both audience favourites and emerging British film & TV talent. The Awards will feature the cream of the black British film & TV scene alongside established mainstream stars from the worlds of sport, music, fashion media and politics.
