Shirley proudly comes from
Guyanese parentage and is keen to be a role model for young women everywhere. In April 2008 she will be representing her country in the
Miss Caribbean Commonwealth contest and has also made it through to the finals of
Miss Commonwealth International, which will take place in July. Shirley feels that these contests will give her the opportunity to become a key representative and ambassador for her country, as well as allowing her to make a difference on so many levels. An aspiring model and singer, she holds the current title of
Miss Bridal Hair and Beauty and last year took part in the
Miss England finals, winning the Miss County Queen title. Shirley is keen to assist in the global promotion of charitable causes and wants to use her knowledge and position to give something back to the community.
In May, Shirley will take part in the
Race for Life, raising money for Cancer Research UK. You can visit her fundraising page at
raceforlifesponsorme.org/shirleyburnett and help to fund their life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer."
