Soca music is still not widely recognised by major radio stations, although there have been international hits by artists such as Kevin Lyttle (St Vincent), Rupee (Barbados), Alison Hinds (Barbados) and in the very early days Arrow (Montserrat), Soca, the Soul of Calypso, has come a long way since its inception in the 1970s. Soca music can now be heard on stations such as Choice 96.9FM & 107.1FM, BBC 1Xtra and a large number of community stations up and down the country.
