Top 10 Style Icons of Caribbean origin to watch out for in 2008

Style Icons 2008

So another year has rolled by, and as wave goodbye to '07, I wonder who will be the movers and shakers of this year? Who will we be closely monitoring for style tips and inspiration? I have compiled a list of who I, think will be hotter than hot this year. Watch out for the following goddesses, they're gonna be the talk of the town.
Syrita Spearring
1. Alesha Dixon

She shook off her cheating husband, re-launched her showbiz career and scored a lucrative contract with top model agency, Select. The original comeback-kid and newly crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing, stunning Alesha has gone from strength to strength and is positioned to take '08 by storm. She definitely deserves 10 out of 10.

2. Rihanna

New bob. Check. New image. Check. New musical direction. Check. The Good Girl Gone Bad has upped her game and invaded the business that is show. Riding on the phenomenal success of her '07 anthem, Umbrella, there's not doubt Rihanna will ascend smoke-like in '08 to become a major trend-setter. Somebody should tell Beyonce to watch her back..

3. Naomi Harris

In my eyes the true star of 28 Days Later & Pirates of the Caribbean. How elegant is this woman? She has tons of talent to back it up too. Our girl, Naomi has been adopted by the US and will hopefully continue to fly the flag, bagging top movie roles, sashaying down red carpets looking sensational and getting those magazine covers.

4. Leona Lewis

It looks like she might become the first reality TV winner to achieve sustainable global success. After her X-factor victory last year, her album, Spirit, became the fastest selling debut album ever, in UK & Ireland. Leona has gone to Hollywood and turned the glamour up a notch too. Remember the Coast dress she wore for the X-factor final sold-out immediately? A style icon in the making.

5. Keisha Buchanan

The only Sugababe still standing from the original line up, and Keisha seems to just get better every time we see her. She already writes most of the songs, and with notable hot boys like Ray.J (Brandy's brother) and NeYo falling under her spell, it's only natural that this chart-topper will continue to blossom in '08 and give those other popstrels a run for their money. Keisha we salute you!

6. Jourdan Dunn

After being spotted shopping in Primark, Jourdan Dunn was snapped up by Storm models and subsequently blazed the catwalks of New York and London fashion week in '07. She is now the face of Benetton and is hotly tipped to become the next black supermodel. Keep your eyes peeled for this one, and remember where you heard it first.

7. Naomi Campbell

Love her or hate her, Naomi is fashion royalty. She is premier league. Not only does she keep up with the Siennas/Kates/Camerons, but her career has stood the test of time and she isn't showing any sign of slowing down. Plus, you've got to admit, her diva-like antics keep us entertained.

8. Rosario Dawson

Gorgeous Rosario, captivated us in movies like Sin City, Alexander, and Men in Black II. This PuertoRican/Irish/Cuban mami has broken into the mainstream, leaving a trail of critics and papparazzi gasping in her wake. With the sequel to Sin City in production and rumours of a new TV show, we wait impatiently for Rosario’s offerings in '08.

9. Jamelia

I tried not to put Jamelia in this list, I really did. Mostly because she doesn't seem to be wowing us anymore. Even though she's gone all commercial and is soon to settle down and marry footballer Darren Byfield, we must acknowledge the fact that she always looks fantastic and even has her own range of hair products with Toni & Guy. She is also set to appear in a charity special of Strictly Come Dancing in '08.

10. Syrita Spearring

Yeah baby, it's me. What? This is my list, I can include who I want!!!
