The Apprentice, follows on from the success of Donald Trumps series in the USA, which gets up to 30 million viewers, the Apprentice, has taken fourteen aspiring entrepreneurs, chosen from 6,000 applicants, competing for the £100,000 job with Sir Alan.
Each week, at the boardroom showdown, after consultation with his advisors, Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer, we have seen one of the contenders hit with the words “You’re Fired!” The country has been eagerly anticipating the outcome, and had people glued to the T.V. as Tim beat off fellow competitor Saira Khan.
Tim Campbell is a wonderful example of the good guys winning, and is a fantastic role model for the Jamaican and Caribbean communities in the UK. At the age of 26, his mature outlook, and excellent ability have won him the job, but also a place in the nations hearts, dedicating his success and achievement to his mother, Una.
Raised in Stratford, East London, with his brother and sister, Tim grew up without his Father, who was a DJ and stallholder. Una Campbell, took extra jobs to support the children, aswell as working in the rag trade. Tim was a rebellious teenager, getting into trouble at school, until an RE teacher took him under his wing. He went on to leave school with 11 GCSEs, and gain a university degree. This led to a £34,000-a-year job in the Tube's marketing department.
Tim lives with his fiancee Jasmine Johnson, 31, and their three-year-old daughter Kayla. He has given the reason to enter the show was to provide a good role model to his daughter. This attitude is so refreshing in an age where people want to achieve status and success by singing or posing naked.
On his final task, the riverboat party, he made a £2,200 loss on £5,000, which could have been fatal. However, the high standards of the event, and success in the very difficult area of fashion, proved his abilities and intellect.
Tim has now spent the past six months working at Amstrad with fellow contest Saira, and will be working in a new product area very allied to the existing business.
