Tottenham Carnival
Next Carnival: Saturday 18th June 2011 Every June, Tottenham comes together in the spirit of community and togetherness for the Festival and Carnival. Since it launched in 1997, the event has grown in popularity each year, and now has up to 60,000 people attending.
There are five stages: comedy tent, Latin zone, kids' zone, youth zone, pensioners' zone. There is also a Spurs zone and a fun fair. Carnival procession starts 11am in Eade Road, festival from 12 noon in Bruce Castle Park (ends 7pm) Nearest tube: Seven Sisters; Nearest railway: Bruce Grove, White Hart Lane
One of north London's largest events, celebrating what is thought to be the most ethically diverse area in Europe with around 300 languages spoken, the Tottenham Carnival has become an annual favourite for tens of thousands of people.
As well as an unmissable carnival procession, it will this year host more music, entertainment, dance and comedy than ever on five stages with something for everyone in the comedy tent, Latin zone, kids’ zone, youth zone, and pensioners’ zone; plus there is an exciting fun fair.
The event is sponsored by Organised by Tottenham Community Festival and Carnival, a registered charity. Tottenham is a multicultural hotspot, groups inhabiting the area including African-Caribbean, West African, Albanian, Kurdish, Turkish-Cypriot, Turkish, Irish, Polish, Asian and Portuguese populations.
In addition there are a variety of activities, stalls, and food from the diverse communities of Tottenham.
