Guadeloupe Travel   GUYANA TRAVEL

ABOUT GUYANA: Guyana is a nature lovers dream come true, virtually untouched by man and full of adventures to discover. There are no beautiful beaches, no notable coral reefs to explore but for those travelers who hear nature calling, there is none like Guyana's interior of beautiful rivers, lakes, waterfalls, rain forests, jungles, and even savannahs to satisfy the call. Hiking and adventure are the main attractions here and you'll get the real deal.

Multi-cultured heritage with its European (British, French and Dutch) influences as well as African, Chinese, German, Indian and Portuguese. Georgetown, the capital city and main entry point for visitors, boasts a wonderful display of 19th century architecture (St. George's Cathedral, believed to be the second tallest wooden structure in the world, is a must-see), diverse cuisine, markets, crafts and many carnivals and festivals throughout the year.

Rivers, lakes and over 276 waterfalls penetrate the area opening up a vast paradise (83,000 square miles to be exact) for hikers and adventure seekers as well as a haven for eco-tourism to flourish. Many daytrips to the interior as well as other excursions can be arranged by the tour desks of many hotels in Georgetown and several lodges and eco-resorts exist throughout the interior for overnight and extended outings. Guyana is ideal for the adventure traveler seeking a Caribbean climate with great cultural diversity and natural beauty.
