The Caribbean island of Montserrat is gearing up for the annual St Patrick's Day Festival 2010 in March. The week-long festival provides a dynamic mix of Irish and African heritage, with some traditional Caribbean entertainment thrown in.
CARIBBEAN PASSENGER TAX
Joined by popular broadcaster Floella Benjamin, as well as representatives of leading Caribbean organisations, MP Sarah Teather handed in a petition to Chancellor of the Exchequer including almost 400 signatures from Brent.
FLIGHTS TO THE CARIBBEAN UNAFFORDABLE
Currently if you fly economy to the Caribbean you pay the Government £40 for the privilege. From 1 Nov 2009 this goes up to £50 and from 1 Nov 2010 to £75, the flying poll tax being called Air Passenger Duty [APD]
