Goldgenie Expands into the Caribbean

The UK’s Dragon’s Den Success Story Goldgenie Expands into the Caribbean

The UK success story of Goldgenie (formerly Midas Touch International) is expanding into the Caribbean.

Goldgenie is a successful gold-plating business, founded in 1995 by entrepreneur Laban Roomes, now expanding into the Caribbean region.

After gaining investment and mentorship from Dragon James Caan, Goldgenie has adopted a franchise business model globally and has seen individuals set up lucrative gold-plating businesses across Europe and Asia. One such franchise for the Caribbean is licensed to ODOKO Enterprises.

Goldgenie first developed a unique portable gold-plating machine, which quickly allowed it to establish a successful niche market in the automotive industry. Soon, Goldgenie was gold-plating car emblems for Lexus, Honda, and Toyota dealerships across the UK.

The next step saw the Goldgenie product and service range expand into the personal market. Items like jewelry, golf clubs, Nokia mobile phones, iPods, iPads and also a variety of household objects including high-end bath taps and fittings.

A commission to gold-plate artifacts at a Hindu temple in London followed and Laban was fortunate enough to acquire Simon Woodroffe of Yo!Sushi fame as a business mentor. This led to a now famous appearance on BBC TV’s Dragon’s Den. where multi-millionaire James Caan saw the potential in both Laban Roomes and his company. With the backing of James Caan, Goldgenie is fulfilling its potential as a luxury gold-plating brand.

Goldgenie has already successfully expanded into Europe and Asia. The move into the Caribbean offers not only the opportunity for people to access the luxury product range but also for individuals to set up their own successful gold-plating business with the support of the already recognized Goldgenie brand. “It’s great to see the Goldgenie brand expand into Caribbean. We’ve had great success in Asia, Europe and Australia and so move into the Caribbean is only natural” says Laban Roomes.

Goldgenie Caribbean is set up by ODOKO Enterprises a Barbadian owned and registered company. After listening to an interview with James Caan on VOB 92.9fm, Managing Director JoEllen Laryea thought it was a great opportunity to bring the luxury goods brand to the Caribbean.
