Crystal Laugier of West London wins Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK

Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK beauty pageant was held at the Porchester Hall Bayswater in London on 20th August 2005.

Crystal Laugier of West London wins Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK held under the patronage of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner Her Excellency Mrs Glenda Morean Phillip. Carivog International managed by Angela Cox, Sheanna Alleyne and Valerie Noreiga holds this Cultural Showcase annually.

The main sponsors of this event were Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Board Britain. Crystal Laugier is a 21yrs Trinidad national who resides in North West London and represented Tobago in the pageant; she currently works as a Customer Advisor at a London bank. Visually Crystal can be perceive as quiet and reserve but she has a strong personality and a great passion for humanitarian causes and her country of birth Trinidad and Tobago which ignites her and makes her 5’4″ statue stand out as strong and outgoing. Amongst her many prizes is a trip to Trinidad and Tobago courtesy Paradise Gold. Crystal was overjoyed when she discovered that part of her duties would be to assist the Caribbean Development Trust (CDT) (info at www.caribbeandevelopmenttrust.com) an affiliate of Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK in identifying and providing sustainable support for an area in Tobago that is in most need.

Other winners were first runners up Odongo Tia Okwee who represented San Fernando a 20 yrs old Medical Technology student from Berkshire; second runners up Jewel Holder who represented St Anns a corporate receptionist from South East London; winner of Miss Website and Miss Elegance is Jamima Douglas from North London who represented Belmont holder of a Degree in Music Performance and Production; winner of Miss Model International and Miss Photogenic Kimberly Ryan from Middlesex who represented Sangre Grande holder of a BA in Business and Law; Miss Amity – Camille Roberts of South London; Miss Personality – Cheyvonne Phillips of Surrey; Special Awards Best Project ( Delegate had to research their area) Leah Jarvis of South London and Most Elegant Dresser- Crystal Salazar of Birmingham.

The delegates expressed their gratitude for the support given by the organising committee and their appreciation for the holistic workshops they received over the past months. The workshops were directed by Sheanna Alleyne Managing Director of Carivog International and supported by Pauley Skerrette- physical fitness instructor Managing Director of X’pozure, Gillian Joseph Make up artist, Richie Booth- fashion stylist, Hair Art by Jawaad, Kiechelle De Gale of State of Confidence.

The show attracted many celebrities including the High Commissioner of Barbados His Excellency Mr. Edwin Pollard MBA, members of the Grenada High Commission, and many other high profile persons including international beauty queens. The distinguished panel of judges were Rani Singh popular actress past cast of East Enders, Krista De Four Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2004/ Bio chemist; Nova Alexander Account Manager (UK, Ireland, Holland & Scandinavia) The Tourism Development Company of Trinidad & Tobago Ltd (TDC) UK. David Chen Managing Director Paradise Gold Travel, David Goodliff former Mr. England/Adjudicator; David Roberts Project Sales Manager/Ethnic Media. The adjudicator was Ansel Wong of PR/Marketing Focus Consultancy and judges coordinator Angela Barclay Managing Director of So Esteem

In this year’s production Trinidad and Tobago Designers played an important role. Michael Vogue Designs of St Joseph African wear and Jordis Designs from Couva Indian wear contributed to the exquisite opening. Evening Gowns were produced by Lester Rauseo (Director of Beauti Bank) Brenda Holder, Michael Vogue Designs, Jordis Designs, Judy Hinds, D Vog and Swimwear courtesy Inn Collection.

From the United Kingdom carnival costumes Poison UK and gowns from French Kiss UK, Mark Anthony Johnson of Remarkable Brides and Inspiration by Shaun Carrington. The supporting Beauty crew were Hair Art by Jawaad, Primero, Gillian Joseph and Curtis Agard. Opening Dance choreography by Fedil Persad of the Caribbean / Indian Dance Troupe and the general show choreography by Rueben P Joseph of CI Mannequins.

The show, which was presented, by MC Davis Dean (Coco Payol) and Alafair Celestine Miss Commonwealth International exuded the rich culture of the twin islands of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago yet showed its connection to other part of the world. The performing entertainers were Ebony steel band, Level Crew, vocalist Janelle Lee Chee, Laselles- saxophonist, Tropical Rythem dancers, Neemura dance group and Chutney Soca artist Sanjay of Trinidad.
