Having held the first ever street dance competition way back in '96, Street Dance Weekend (SDW) 08 UK championships has teamed up with the Universal Pictures blockbuster hit movie 'Step UP 2, take it to the streets', to celebrate the 13 annual championships on the Sunday 27th July and DVD release on 14th July 2008.

With spell-bounding moves as featured in the movie Step Up2, the championships will host the rare opportunity to see live, the finest street dance groups perform their most defying and entertaining routines, compete and battle in trilling and spectacular fashion.

The Street Dance 2008 UK championships will be held at The Victoria Apollo and will be using the set of it's resident incredible hit show 'Wicked'. The Apollo Victoria will be opening its doors to over 2,000 excited spectators and supporters who will cheer and urge their favorite groups to victory and to be selected as part of Team UK, the team to take on the USA in October/November in the planned USA v UK in New York.

Current winners Diversity, who have just completed filming with Universal Pictures, 'How to Step UP and Street Dance' performed to the soundtrack 'Low' by Flow Rida from the Step UP2 movie, will be heading the Team UK against the USA. Diversity will be opening the Street Dance Weekend 2008 UK Championships with their awesome 'Freedom' routine, the winning piece from the SDW 2007 UK Championships, which was also recently voted by the public as the Best Ever Street Dance routine'.

Diversity will also perform their new and exclusive routine to close the championships. Diversity, representing Essex, were also the first group to take the title from London, however with impressive auditions from the London and Belfast representatives, the championships is open to who will win the 2008 championships.

An esteemed panel from the industry, including leading casting agency - Mark Summers (BBC3), who casts for Justin Timberlake, George Michael and Madonna, amongst others, will form part of the judging panel. The panel are charged with the arduous task of separating the brilliant from the supreme - an impossible task.

Street Dance Weekend 2008 UK Championships, dubbed the 'Oscars of Street Dance', will once again showcase the best groups, taking Street Dance to the next level... setting the standard for the rest of the world to follow.
