UNTOLD
If you didn't have a voice then how would you tell the story? by Sherry Tagoe
Recently I had the pleasure of attending the UNTOLD fashion showcase that took place at popular venue 93 East located in trendy Brick Lane. The purpose of this event was to give up and coming designers a unorthodox story- telling approach to the otherwise traditionally predictable fashion show. When I first arrived I was greeted by Maame Baryeh (who is not only a designer but the founder of UNTOLD ) and Phoenix James (the choreographer extraordinaire responsible for the rhythmic movements that made show).

I took advantage of the meet and greet before the start of the show where I had a chance to rub elbows with the designers and hear their ideas that I would soon see come to life. Amongst the designers was Shilpa Rajan for House of Bilimoria as well as Erzumah Ackerson for Bestow Elan .
I remember speaking to Phoenix following the show and telling him that the clothing presentation was eye-catching and brought that certain something that told me "Sherry, don't you dare blink or you might miss something special". The models were a mix of innocence (that of 16 year old Sofi Djelassi) and old school drama that turned heads .Some of the models commanded attention with their every step while others intoxicated onlookers with their lingering stares.
This certainly was NOT a make- shift show. The clothing came from designers that felt the need to send a message without falling victim to clone mentalities that this overcrowded industry is faced with on a daily basis.
UNTOLD is best described as a martini was one part design, one part drama, two parts raw original talent, shaken and served on the rocks. I'll definitely have one of those.
