VITAMINS GLOSSARY


Vitamins are essential for good health, skin, and hair. Remember that vitamins are not a substitute for food, a healthy diet will always be the most important. Always check with your doctor before starting a new vitamin program.

 VITAMIN GLOSSARY


VITAMIN A: Helps to prevent and fights infection. Vitamin A is necessary for growth and repair of body tissues and building of red blood cells. Protects against the effects of pollutantion. Improves eyesight, aids in bone and teeth care.

VITAMIN C: One of the most well known vitamins, an antioxident essential for healthy teeth, skin, hair and bones. Vitamin C helps build resistance to common infection, strengthens blood vessels. It helps to heal wounds and scar tissue, as well as strengthening the immune system, and aiding in the absorption of iron. A great all rounder!

VITAMIN E: Vitamin E is all about the skin. It increases oxygen in the bloodstream, inhibits development of and protects against free radicals. Taking Vitamin E strengthens capillary walls and dissolves and prevents blood clots.

VITAMIN K: Particularly good for women with heavy periods, and as wellas aiding in proper blood clotting.

VITAMIN D: Essential for healthy bones and teeth. Aids in the absorption of Calcium and Phosphorus. Maintains the nervous system and normal heart action

VITAMIN B-1 (Thiamin): Aids in the digestion of starches and other carbohydrates. Helpful in reducing stress, and boosting energy. Essential for healthy nervous system, muscles, and heart. Promotes growth and good muscle tone.

VITAMIN B-2 (Riboflavin): Helps in the formation of antibodies and red blood cells. Promotes good vision, eye fatigue, skin, nails, and hair. Necessary for carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. Promotes general good health.

VITAMIN B-3 (Niacinamide or Niacin): Promotes a healthy digestive system, and alleviates gastrointestinal upsets. Generally improves circulation by opening capillaries and veins. Aids in reduceing cholesterol and high blood pressure.

VITAMIN B-5 (Pantothenic Acid): This Vitamin improves digestion, promotes growth and health of hair. Improves the body's resistance to stress. Fights infections by building antibodies.

VITAMIN B-6 (Pyridoxine) : This is a natural diuretic, which balances fluids in the body. Necessary for the synthesis and breakdown of amino acids, and aids in fat and carbohydrate metabolism. Promotes healthy skin.

VITAMIN B-12 (cobalamin): This vitamin helps to regulate the nervous system and increases energy. It is necessary for the formation and regeneration of red blood cells.
