Getting Married in Anguilla

The information below is a basic guide to what you need and who to contact for getting married in Anguilla.

Anguilla Marriage License Laws
Weddings Couples can marry under the authority of a special marriage license.

Weddings Application can be obtained from the Judicial Department and takes 48 hours to process.

Weddings If either party has been divorced or widowed, the divorce decree or death certificate of the deceased spouse must be presented.

Weddings Two witnesses are required for the ceremony

Weddings Special requirements apply for Catholic marriages. Couples seeking a Catholic marriage must give three to six months advance notice, participate in a pre-cana course and submit baptismal certificate, confirmation papers and freedom to marry papers.

Identification required for Anguilla Marriage License
Weddings Proof of citizenship from resident country is required such as valid passport or birth certificate and photo driver’s license

Weddings If either party has been divorced, the original divorce decree or a certified copy must be presented.

Weddings All documents must be in English, if not, they must be translated and notarized

Entry Requirements
A full British passport of at least six months validity is required for all British nationals visiting Anguilla. British nationals do not require a visa.

Applying for a marriage license
If one member of the couple has resided in Anguilla for at least 15 days before the date of the nuptials, the cost of the marriage license will be US$40. If that residency has been less than 15 days, the cost of the license will be US$284, including stamp duty.
