The Yaa Asantewaa centre, named after the warrior Queen mother of the Ashanti people of Ghana, is a prize winning Black arts and community centre, based in West London.
The activities which are created to highlight the
Black experience in London, include African/Caribbean Dance Workshops, Capoeira, singing, theatre, carnival arts and Black history events and workshops and an after school club.
Yaa Asantewaa activley takes part in Notting Hill Carnival each year, housing a number of the design teams in addition to hosting the
London Calypso Tent throughout August.
The Yaa Asantewaa Centre hosts a wide range of activities to compliment
the Tabernacle's main events.
