Jamaican Art in London Exhibition October 15th -22nd 2009 at the Jamaican High Commission

Over 40 original works of art by 12 Jamaican artists, reflecting complementary visions of the Jamaican experience, will be on exhibit at the Jamaican High Commission over the period October 15 – 22, 2009. The works comprise paintings, photographs and jewellery. The artists include Alphanso Blake, Ewan McAnuff, Edward Channer, Damaris Mayne, and Jeremy Francis among others.

The exhibition is an initiative of Visual & Performing Arts Jamaica (VPAJ) in collaboration with the High Commission and Jamaica Trade & Invest.

Along with the works of art, a selection of books produced by Jamaican writers will also be on display.

VPAJ is a 200+ strong grouping of creative producers in the visual arts, film & television, theatre, dance, writing & publishing – and the providers of goods and services to these industries. It is one of 10 clusters established under the Private Sector Development Programme, a joint project of the European Union & the Government of Jamaica.
