How Jamaica Conquered The World Evening

How Jamaica Conquered the World 2015

An evening of How Jamaica Conquered The World

A lively session of Jamaican film, podcasts, music and discussion. Our very special guest and Dancehall pioneer from Kingston, Cleveland Brownie (one half of Steely and Clevie) will be talking about his and Steely’s part in the birth of dancehall.

Michael Goldwasser from the reggae collective Easy Star All Stars, will join us from New York to talk about the spread of Reggae around the world, and musicologist Jez Collins from Birmingham University will reveal the crucial role that Birmingham played in shaping the sound of the island and how this is reflected in the relative ethnic integration of the city.
